Invisalign Teen | Queens, Brooklyn, New York
Invisalign Teen, often referred to as Phase 2 treatment, utilizes clear aligners to address various orthodontic issues over 12 to 18 months. It can be applied following Invisalign First or as a standalone treatment.
What exactly is Invisalign Teen?
Invisalign Teen is an aligner system for teeth straightening and jaw and palate repositioning. They exert gentle pressure on the teeth and mouth to enhance bites and the position of the teeth. You will wear an aligner for one to two weeks and then move to the next, with each aligner being a little different to accommodate the movements of your teeth and jaws.
All About Getting Ready for Invisalign Teen
The Invisalign Teen process begins with a 3D scan of your teeth. A few minutes will be taken to do this scan with state-of-the-art technology, which can capture thousands of images each second. A state-of-the-art software uses the 3D images to create the Invisalign Teen treatment plan, which generates your aligners. The material used for your aligners is soft, medical-grade plastic.
What happens after my Invisalign Teen treatment is completed?
After your Invisalign Teen treatment is done, you'll start using a retainer that will maintain your teeth in their new positions. At first, the retainer is usually worn all the time. After a year, many patients can switch to wearing the retainer only some of the time (such as a few days a week or at night).
What are the benefits?
Invisalign Teen has several advantages:
It can deal with some more challenging orthodontic issues.
The misconception that Invisalign can only address minor issues has contributed to the limited acceptance of Orthodontists. Technology has widened the list of problems that Invisalign Teen can now offer resolution to. For some orthodontic plans, we use SmartForce attachments with the clear aligners. SmartForce attachments are tooth-colored pieces that attach to your teeth and provide additional pressure. These attachments extend the abilities of the Invisalign treatment for more difficult orthodontic problems.
No changes to eating or dental care are needed
The most typical braces resistance is seen among teenagers due to the heavy restriction imposed on their diets. They can hardly munch gummy or sticky stuff, munch on hard or crunchy food, chew gum, or eat anything that requires biting (like an apple). Additionally, it becomes quite difficult to brush and floss gracefully with traditional braces on. They are quite the opposite with Invisalign Teen, as you take off your aligners while eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing; you just need to make sure to put them back on so that you can keep up with your treatment schedule.
Invisalign Teen is discreet
Most people will never know you're wearing a clear Invisalign aligner. The aligners are almost invisible and fit tightly over your teeth. They won't detract from your smile when taking pictures or videos.
